John Fenner

SCRC Senior Associate

John Fenner provides training, facilitation and organizing assistance to communities interested in implementing dialogue-to-change programs around issues such as rural poverty, education, community growth, racism, and youth development.

Between 1989 and 2006, John served as director of the Center for Dialogue, a community-based nonprofit dedicated to the promotion of peaceful communities and positive change. As a senior associate of Everyday Democracy, he now co-facilitates Connecting Role and Soul – a leadership renewal program for nonprofit leaders based on the work of Parker J. Palmer. John also works as a consultant to communities, congregations, and nonprofit organizations providing conflict resolution, planning, and dialogue assistance.

John is a graduate of Syracuse University and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a degree in biology. He lives in Brevard, North Carolina with his wife Claire and son Colin.
