Carol Scott
Carol Woodward Scott works with racially, politically, and religiously divided groups to develop structures that allow them to explore issues in search of common ground. Carol is an experienced facilitator, trainer, and consultant in community organizing.
Prior to coming to Everyday Democracy, Carol honed these skills while she served as president of the Oklahoma League of Women Voters. She initiated the first statewide dialogue-to-change program in the country on reforming Oklahoma’s criminal justice system. She later organized similar statewide programs around contentious issues in public education and campaign finance reform.
Carol also incorporated dialogue-to-change programs into neighborhood organizing and leadership training as a member of the Oklahoma City Neighborhood Alliance Board of Directors. As a member of the National Board of the League of Women Voters, she was instrumental in reformulating the League’s model of civic engagement, culminating in the action booklet, Citizens Building Communities: The ABCs of Public Dialogue.
Carol is a graduate of Presbyterian St. Luke’s College of Nursing in Chicago and earned a bachelor’s degree in health education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
